Maryland Technology Literacy Program
The research-based Technology Literacy course supports the National Educational Technology Standards from the International Society for Technology in Education and assists each student in developing their understanding and mastery of technology as it applies to education, recreation and careers. The course covers a wide range of technological elements as well as a fundamental understanding of the ever-expanding role of technology in our society.
Student Computer Technology Literacy
Today it is
essential for students to know basic computer terminology, applications and troubleshooting
steps. This course explores computer systems and software fundamentals in order
to help students master the critical technological literacy standards that have
become a part of state-wide goals and the expectations of the Federal No Child
Left Behind Act (NCLB).
From recognizing file types and practicing internet safety to understanding the larger ethical and social issues of the web, students need the knowledge and skills to safely use the technology that has become an elemental part of daily life. Students able to effectively employ word processing, spreadsheets, databases and other software tools have increased opportunities for both educational and future career success.
